HKWP receives National ASLA Honor Award
Posted: Aug 28, 2012The Quaker Smith Point Residence in Shelburne Vermont has received an honor award from the American Society of Landscape Architects. The jury commented: "The detail on this project is incredible and the quality is quite singular. The palette of materials is new, yet compatible with the context. The execution is impeccable." Keith & Jeff will be heading to Phoenix in September to receive the award. Thank you to the entire project team for a job well done.
Salem State University - Marsh Hall wins a 2011 BSA Award

HKWP wins 5 Vermont ASLA Design Awards
Posted: Sep 29, 2011The Minnesota chapter of ASLA were the jurors for the 2011 Vermont ASLA Design Awards. The Juror's awarded Salem State University - Marsh Hall the "Juror's Award of Excellence", the highest award. Receiving Honor Awards were the North Cove Residence & Heritage Aviation. Merit Awards went to the Stowe Pool & Pool House and the Fletcher Allen Oncology Green Roof.
Salem State Univeristy - Marsh Hall wins 2011 BSLA Honor Award
Posted: Mar 23, 2011The Marsh Hall project at Salem State University has received one of 4 Honor Awards in Design from the Boston Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects. The award will be presented on April 28th at a ceremony in Cambridge MA.
HKWP awarded University of Rhode Island Competition
Posted: Mar 2, 2011HKWP & artists Elizabeth Billings / Andy Wasserman have been awarded the commission for the new College of Pharmacy Wellness Garden. The winning entry proposes a sculptural environment that speaks to the fields of pharmacy, pharmacognosy, the geography of Rhode Island and the context of the University of Rhode Island. Within the garden the Materia Medica frieze makes visible a poetic investigation of plant matter. Each etched or sand blasted panel depicts the activity of growth, movement, and transformation of plants and cells. The team will begin construction documents shortly with construction anticpated to begin in summer 2011.

HKWP short listed in University of Rhode Island Competition

The design competition is sponsored by the Rhode Island State Council On the Arts and will culminate with the selection of a final team in February 2011.

Hodgson named president of VTASLA
Posted: Oct 5, 2008Jeff Hodgson has been named President of the Vermont Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects (VTASLA). Doug Crowell has joined the Executive Board as a member at large. The chapter is focusing it's efforts this next year on obtaining licensure for landscape architects. Vermont is the only remaining state without either a title act or practice act in place.
UVM Davis Center receives LEED Gold
Posted: Oct 1, 2008The University of Vermont, Davis Center has been awarded LEED Gold certification by the US Green Building Council, acheiving 39 of the 40 points attempted. This makes it one of the first major new student centers to acheive this level of certification.

HKWP Wins Burlington City Arts Competition
Posted: Jul 17, 2007HKWP was selected as the winner of the Burlington City Arts 'Main Street Median Competition'. 4 Teams composed of landscape architects, architects, artists, traffic engineers and lighting designers proposed designs for the main street gateway to Burlington and the University of Vermont. A committee of Burlington and UVM officials selected the design by HKWP which focused on the shared commitment to the environment and sustainability that the two entities share. The design features a continuous ribbon of light in the median powered by a sculptural field of vertical axis wind turbines. Other features included horizontal entry walls, landforms and new UVM signage.

Smart Growth Award
Posted: Sep 1, 2006The Vermont Forum on Sprawl has awarded the Winooski Downtown Redevelopment project the first annual Smart Growth Award. The award recognizes projects that foster economic vitality in community centers while maintaining the rural working landscape. In addition the project has been awarded a national Award for Smart Growth by the Environmental Protection Agency.
